Ravensworth Sangiovese 2022 750ml

Sangiovese from Hilltops & Canberra. 2022 was a cooler year, the wine expresses more of its Sangiovese characteristics, a little less ripe, a little zippier, more morello cherry, a little dustiness, a little puckery acid pop the lovely spices continue - it's a lovely wine, again, that's more Sangiovese than Sangiovese flavoured dry red smile juice that it was in 2021. 

2021 notes below; I'm not quite sure how you define cult wine, but by my book I'd say we're getting close with Ravensworth Sangiovese. This is a wine that people seek year in, year out and buy without thinking twice. If you've had previous vintages it's pretty easy to see why. The team at Ravensworth have cracked the code to making delicious Sangiovese. Deep crimson, slightly lighter at the rim. Fresh cherry juice, star anise, a little terracotta, sap, white pepper & bitter herbs on the nose. Rich, ripe cherry and plum flavours on the front, super juicy and vibrant before a savoury, twist, and an exceptionally long spicy red fruit finish. It's medium weight, but absolutely packed with flavour. Great now, but will improve for a few years and drink well for another few on top of that. An absolute banger for sure.
