Morris Muscat Barrels Single Malt Whisky 46% 700ml

This is the first release of single malt whisky made on the re-commissioned brandy still at the famous Morris of Rutherglen winery. Casella (Yellowtail "fame") purchased the Morris business and stock and cleverly saw the opportunity to have a crack at Australian whisky and boy howdy are we glad they did. Yeah, we're laughing at the thought of Yellowtail whisky, too. 

This whisky was matured in Muscat barrels previously used at the famous Morris Rutherglen winery - very few companies in Australia would have the cache of quality ex-fortified wine oak that Morris has.

This is a ripper of a whisky to smell, each agitation of the glass is like a turn of the kaleidoscope; grape confectionary, hay bale, coffee, chocolate, rancio, walnut, raisin have all appeared. The palate is like nose-diving into a massive container of malt - like Scrooge McDuck did into his coins during the opening sequence of Duck Tales. Back to it, big boy.... . It's a big malty cuddle, it's so spotlessly clean and vibrant, the flavours promised by the nose just waft in and out with an underlying vinosity that just makes it all sing. We love it and reckon you will, too. 46.0% alc/vol.
