Little Reddie Refosco Dal Peduncolo Rosso 2020 750ml

Refosco from Heathcote, open fermented in tank before being divided beteween an old puncheon (500L) and a new Austrian oak Demi-muid (600L) where it sat for twelve months before bottling. Garnet colour with a ruby edge. Complex, kaleidoscopic aromas on offer; lots of red fruit, spices, florals, pepper, some stewed fruit there, too - something twiggy and herbacous too. The palate is beguiling too - the flavours offered are what you'd expect from a big warm climate Aussie red, but there's something in the structure and delivery that sets it apart - it feels far lighter and easy going than most other wines with these sorts ripe, erring on stewy flavours offer up. In short; it's a ripper - interesting, different, big flavours in a small body.
