This was a pretty funny acquisition; a wine rep spotted a gap on the Iberian shelf on the way out and said: "Hey I've got a wine for that gap, I reckon you'll love it, can I send you a case and you can open a bottle?" Not a conventional path to market for us, but hey, this rep has lots of runs on the board and I admired their gumption, so I said yes and opened a bottle Saturday morning. I had a quick sniff, swirl, spit and planned on writing a proper note, but never got around to it. 2/3 Tempranillo, 1/3 Malbec from Swan Valley, Western Australia. What I can remember is an incredibly vivid deep purple colour; cherries and berries, spices and earth, medium body with a taut dry finish. Almost everyone who tasted this purchased it, and I forgot to write a proper note. I think that sentiment alone is probably more worthy than the waffle I write on these here pages.
