Brix Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2022 750ml

This wine is made by Philip Lobley's mate "Bridge" from fruit grown at Wedgetail Estate in the Yarra Valley, Phil describes this vineyard as "organic leaning" with a grin. Not sure what that means. Bridge fermented this wine in old French oak barrels at Phil's winery. Very pale colour, smells lovely, smoked peaches, sap, dry bickies. Flavour wise it's big and punchy, but delivered in a silky fashion, the gently smoky peach theme dominates, something cashewy and dry biscuity tries to assert itself and fails until the very last moment, where the savoury takes control. This is a ripper of a drink.
