Allevare Metcalfe Shiraz 2021 750ml

Shiraz from Metcalfe in Victoria, a sparsely populated spot about 15km north of Kyneton & 15km east of Castlemaine. Truth be told, I was just looking at it on Google Maps and thought, "wow what a spot!" A quick search of real estate websites indicates I am not the first to have this thought. Ah, well, back to the drawing board! 

Made from three separate ferments, the extra effort and thought have yielded a ripper result. Fabulous colour, great nose; fragrant and inviting blackberry, violet, a whiff of chutney. Medium-bodied, fresh punchy berries, a little charry smokiness, charcuterie there too. Very fine tannin, with berry pop encores. Really lovely wine.
