On the off side about 20m away from the middle of a cricket pitch is a position known as mid off. 30-60m past that is deep mid off. Another hundred past that is deep deep deep mid off - at most cricket grounds, deep deep deep mid off is a car park, another ground, someone's back fence, but in the case of the 'Gabba in Brisbane at deep deep deep mid off lies Easy Times Brewing Co, who brewed their first beer in 2020. It's within range of a big Chris Lynn tonk.
Another brewer whose operations started in 2020. Planning applications, building permits, liquor licenses can take months, if not years so really things started a long while before that - but officially and brewing... 2020. Atrocious timing, for reasons we don't need to go into, but even faced with such difficulty, they have cruised through and managed to build quite a rapport with locals and tourists alike. We had some customers visit there recently proclaim "omg you must get their beer." So here we are.
Here's a little 4 pack of beer brewed by the marvellous Mr McCarthy;
1x Fun at Parties DDH IPA 375ml ($9.5/single) Rock solid haze, mango, guava, smidge of coconut up front. Herbaceous, grassy, a touch bitter down the back. Grouse.
1x Ovation Hazy Strong Pale 375ml ($8/single) Hazy by name, not by appearance - though a big rich malty pale, reminiscent of Hawkers Circus Oz.
1x Pampelle Sour 375ml ($7/single) Light and fizzy, heaps of citrus. Cracking little beer that I'd love to imbibe somewhere warm and tropical.
1x Sunshine State of Mind Pale Ale ($7/single) Grassy, lemon, lime, lavender aroma, bready, malty palate with citrus pops, gentle bitter finish. Beautiful balance between smashable and tasty.
