Two Tonne Tasmania is a project focussing on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay & Riesling from four different vineyards in the Tamar Valley near Launceston and further East, on the Freycinet Coast. This wine is made of parcels of Riesling fruit from all four of TTV's sites, vinified separately, then blended and bottled to suit winemaker Ricky Evans' desired profile. Lots of lees work for texture, and a small portion of the wine was barrel fermented for extra complexity. It pours a very pale straw colour and smells sensational; Coola cordial, lavender, talc, fresh peel, a teeny whiff of toast. On the palate, it's generous; it has a great body, generous citrus fruit upfront, and crisp, refreshing acidity down back. It's a well rounded and delicious example of great Tasmanian Riesling.
