This looks like a time warp beer; that lovely malt driven copper that many of us now beer nerds fell in love with a while back. Toasty aroma - a bit of molasses, barley sugar, honey, then a solid sprinkling of spice. In the mouth, we're back in firm, bitter and astringent territory here. It's really dry, savoury and "tough" IPA. It's a wonderfully executed trip down memory lane for the old-school, or a curious peer into the past for the new. Smart stuff.
No more than 10 minutes after writing the previous notes on Shapeshifter's Above & Beyond Oat Cream DIPA and making references to the vice-like grip heavy metal has on the craft beer scene, I searched for Somehow Someday to work out what they were getting at. Lo and bloody behold, Somehow Someday is a hair metal song by Night Ranger.
