A legendary Australian Pinot Gris making it's debut TGB appearance. Not something you say too often about Pinot Gris in Australia... the more revered and prestigious examples tend to come from Europe where they get time in timber, extended skin contact which yields completely different results to most producers in Australia. Scorpo is one of a handful of exceptions. This gets the full treatment. Hand picked, wild yeasts and time in old French oak adds complexity and interest, while some parcels undertake malolactic fermentation adds texture and weight, others do not - in order to retain 'freshness' and liveliness. It's typically bottled a little older than many others on the market, too.
It pours a clear pale gold colour and has a sensational aroma. Pears, shortcrust pasty, lime, mint on the nose. The palate is rich, full bodied and fruit driven up front, spicy and savoury down back, before the ripe pear pops out again. It's an incredible drink.
