Port Askaig is named after the tiny ferry terminal on Islay. While there's no distillery named Port Askaig, and this is an independent bottling, there are clues in the whisky's characteristics and the proximity of Caol Ila distillery to Port Askaig that suggest Caol Ila is indeed where the whisky comes from.
Pale gold in colour. It smells profoundly of campfire, bacon and spices. The palate is huge - intensely smoky, with the campfire, bacon and spice continuing among sweet malt, caramel and vanilla. It's a big, bold, prickly Whisky that delivers classic Islay flavour in spades. 57.1% alc/vol.
