At last, the first commercial release from Sam & Chantal's Kinglake distillery. We have followed the journey of Kinglake Whisky from very early on in the piece and have eagerly anticipated it since. The early signs were very, very promising and thankfully the end product has reached it's potential. This particular malt was matured in ex-Bourbon barrels and bottled without artificial fining or filtration.
It smells like caramel, vanilla a whiff of smoke, and a hint of pepper. On the palate, it's rich, oily, and delicious. The sweet caramel vanilla action continues, with a big spicy background. There's a little heat in the finish, which reminds you that this is a whisky to be taken seriously. A great spirit and an impressive debut. Bravo. 46.0%
