Henschke Keyneton Euphonium 2017 750ml

Henschke Keyneton Euphonium 2017 750ml

Henschke is an incredible wine producer, and has been for the longest time. Off the back of that, people tend to buy it habitually and it winds up in churn & burn retailers who fling it out for the "lowest price guaranteed," then make up the shortfall when you buy groceries, petrol or in some cases, insurance. Not usually a brand I'd go for here... but... I'm a sucker for good booze and this vino was just so damned compelling. Predominantly Shiraz with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc & Merlot. Aged 18 months in French & American oak, 20% of which was new. Completlely opaque mauve colour with a bright edge. It's incredibly aromatic; blackcurrant, plum, cedar, liquorice, vanilla, tobacco, smidge of mint. It doesn't feel as big in your mouth as the nose suggests - it's medium bodied, but absolutely packed full of flavour, which is what makes this wine such a thrill. It presses so many pleasure buttons in your head, while being really easy to drink. The finish which is full of berries and ground spice is incredibly long, taut and sets the stage for just another sip... or splash.
$59.00 each, or $54.63 in any wine dozen buy.
