Sposa e Sposa translates from Italian into English as Bride & Bride, and it's a wine from Ben Glaetzer in Langhorne Creek made from Dolcetto & Lagrein, a blend that's prevented by Italian laws that dictate which grapes can go into a wine that has a certain label. On one side of the coin, it assures a bit of predictability and reliability to wines that wear certain robes, on the other it prevents innovation, enter... the Australian winemaker!
Inky purple/mauve colour that clings to the edge of the glass. Dark berry and floral aromas really jump up at you out of the glass. The palate is medium-bodied, continuing the floral and dark berry fruit theme, blueberries, liquorice and spices aplenty framed up by a taut, dry finish. Smart little dry red for the couch or the table, familiar, but also a little different.
