Tropical Stout aims to be a big, generous and boozy drink without the astringency or bitterness of more common Stouts, with a gentle fruitiness. Depth Perception definitely nails the first and second parts of this brief, but the fruitiness is difficult to find, which makes it a difficult beer to write about. I can have a conversation in-store and explain it well, but to those of you who shop online and we don't get the benefit of talking to, this is a difficult beer to write about. Is it delicious? Absol-frickin-lutely. Does it deliver what the label promises? Not quite.
