Gill Estate Gentle Giant Chardonnay 2024 750ml

Cheap Chardonnay is a scary concept to me. I can get around cheap Pinot Gris, or Riesling, even Shiraz, as they're uncomplicated and unless something has gone seriously wrong, they're just varying degrees of good. Chardonnay on the other hand, regardless of price has the potential to be polarising yuck yuck water, so throwing in the challenge of making wine under budgetary constraints raises my heckles. They needn't be though, as this is a straightforward essay all about what Chardonnay is about. It has a little of everything you'd want, not too much of anything, and my fears were unjustified. It's a tasty stonefruity medium bodied Chardonnay flavoured Chardonnay made for quaffing with joy.
