We haven't played much with Barbera in here, which on reflection is a bit silly. These Franco Mondo reds are a bloody sensational demonstration of what the grape can do when grown on the right dirt in the right climate. This one was produced in stainless steel and concrete, which allows the natural flavours of the fruit and terroir to flourish.
A really deep, inviting colour with a vibrant pinkish fleck on the rim. It has a really lifted, clean, jubey nose, a touch confectioned, with some florals in there too. The palate is medium-bodied, really vibrant and taut. It has a rippling acidity that captivates you from the first sip to the final impression. Very fine Italianate tannins. Long herbal minty fruity aftertaste. It's kinda like choose your own adventure grog; it's fresh and vibrant enough to tip in frivolously, but interesting and complex enough to nerd out over should you wish. Lovely. 14.0% alc/vol.
