Dune name all of their wines after deserts and I had to hit up the search engines to find where Athabasca was. The southern side of Lake Athabasca, way up in Canada's north. Pretty pictures from there, worth a gander.
These grapes were hand harvested, then destemmed, pressed with six hours on skins then a short sleep in new oak. The wine pours a very pale straw colour and smells like waxy apple, pear candy, a little toffee, and vanilla end note. The palate is quite light and dry, it's a delicate sleeper up front but comes to life down back; pear drop, apple, and spice, crisp dry finish. It's a really lovely light refreshing wine for the upcoming Spring. Can't wait.
