Carmenere is a grape variety to watch in Australia, for mine. For a few reasons; one it's a cousin of Cabernet Sauvignon and makes some really interesting spicy Cabernet-ish table wine in South America. Two it requires less water than some mainstream varieties, and it loves a bit of sunshine. Having the South American examples in mind, the last place I expected to see Carmenere pop up was a pet-nat. Yet here we are. What a revelation. Bloody mary vibes going on here; it's got this tomato, pepper, spice thing going on - but not too much of it. Like Micah's other 2021 efforts it is equal parts interesting and downright drinkable. We think this is an unmissable pet-nat. Drink some before we drink it all.
