Sangiovese grapes from Oscar Hermann's own vineyard in St Andrews, not that I think the variety matters here terribly much; I think it's more an Oscar wine than a Sangiovese wine. Just two barrels were produced.
Inky purple with a lively crimson edge, with a really inviting nose offering up ripe strawberry, plum, cherry, a little barnyard note, pepper, and a smidge of char siu. The palate is ripe and juicy up front, it's bang on medium weight wise, super tasty - the berries dominate while the acid and spices keep it all in check. Great length, and really nicely integrated fine tannins wrap it all up. This stuff is like a Christmas party full of professors; it loves to party but we know it's capable of being serious too. It's absolutely glorious.
