Combes Beauty Runs the Gauntlet 2021 750ml

I'm starting to sound repetitive, here's another incredible 2021 wine, this time it's Sauvignon Blanc grown in the King Valley. This spent 3 weeks on skins and as a result, it's a world apart from what you'd expect from cool climate Sauvignon Blanc. There is some familiarity with the capsicum, gooseberry, 'grapey' vibes - but the generous soft texture, phenolic grip, pepperiness, and tiny touch of funk deliver intrigue and interest that makes me wonder what the world would think about Sauvignon Blanc if more people treated it this way. Equal parts punchy and polite. Was $30, discounted the heck out of it to move the last few out. $30.00 per bottle.
