I can't help but wonder what the dickens my old boss would think of this. We used to taste literally dozens of wines each day. He was very forward thinking in so many aspects, but the thought of this grape combination in a red wine would surely have made his toes curl. I do miss the old boy. Shiraz, Vermentino, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Gewurztraminer & Viognier. Yup.
Very light red colour, looks like a fresh light young Pinot. Tomato leaf, herbs in the initial sniff, then raspberry, a bit of chocolate, pan juices, mushroom. It's really light bodied, and the initial impression is frivolous fun party wine - and I guess that's the kind of weight it has, then it hits you. It's proper. Tart raspberry, heaps and heaps of fresh herbs, very subtle apricot. It's crunchy and peppery on the back, with a long tart berry aftertaste. It's a really quirky wine; it's turned up to party, but it's still in it's work clobber. If that makes any sense at all. It probably doesn't, but I'm okay with that, I'll happily drink it.
