Mount Towrong Ribolla Gialla 2021 750ml

Mount Towrong Ribolla Gialla 2021 750ml

One of the first Australian releases of Ribolla Gialla, an Italian variety that has risen to cult status over the past few years in northern Italy. These grapes were planted at Chalmers vineyard near Heathcote in Victoria in 2017. Mount Towrong's winemaker Adam Paleg begged the Chalmers family to secure the supply, and here we are. Only 160 dozen produced. Pale straw in colour, slightly turbid. On the nose, it's incredibly interesting - it doesn't smell like traditional white wine. Blackcurrant - wtf? Fig, biscotti, fruit cake spice, cashew and a little bit of talc. The palate is sensational too; so linear, blackcurrant again..... then minerally and savoury, water cracker & brie vibes, super dry with a slightly phenolic grip. There's some dried herb action on the finish, and more cashew, wow.
$45.00 each, or $41.67 in any wine dozen buy.
