Penny's Hill have made wonderful Merlot under their Malpas Road label for years. It was a distinctive example of Australian Merlot some thirteen years ago when I first tried it, and it remains a leader in the pack. A really dense colour and big aromas of plum, mulberry & cedar. The palate is rich, full bodied and intensely flavoured. It's a generous, serious Red wine in a field where insipid, watery and frivolous is the norm.
